As part of the Media Lab’s collaboration with Castrol, researchers with the Space Exploration Initiative recently tested the AstroAnt rover in the rugged environment of Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands. One of these tiny robots will soon be deployed on the IM-2 lunar mission—but first, these terrestrial tests help to ensure that its teeny-tiny wheels keep turning when it reaches the moon.
