S. H. Yeon, C. Landis, G. Herrera-Arcos, H. Song and H. M. Herr, "Compact Reversible Nerve Block System for Wearable Bioelectronics," 2024 46th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), Orlando, FL, USA, 2024, pp. 1-5, doi: 10.1109/EMBC53108.2024.10782179

Abstract

This study introduces a compact hardware architecture designed for reversible electrical nerve block, aimed at advancing bioelectronics research. We present hardware design principles and thorough evaluation on benchtop setups. We further validate the effectiveness of the system through in-vivo experiments using a mouse model and show robust and reversible nerve block. This architecture enables a new tool for studying neurological diseases, understanding complex neural circuitry, and paving the way for wearable clinical interventions.
