The application of generative AI in physical design presents a novel research area, as these technologies have primarily been utilized for digital content generation, such as images and videos. This project explores and builds generative AI tools for physical design while collaborating with artists to develop specialized tools that enhance their creative processes and expand their expressive possibilities while offering a significant degree of artistic control. Initial outcomes include a biomimetic tableware set that integrates complex design with practical functionality, a large-scale ceramic vase showcasing the applicability of additive manufacturing in ceramics, and a uniquely conceptualized sneaker-shaped bread product derived from AI-generated designs. These results highlight the potential of AI-assisted design in reshaping bespoke manufacturing processes and offer new avenues for artistic innovation across various materials and media.
