The Kharkiv Masterplan Visualization Tool is a forward-thinking platform within the CityScope framework, developed in collaboration with the Norman Foster Foundation, designed to aid in the city’s rebuilding efforts following the devastating impacts of the war in Ukraine. This tool allows users to visualize key urban metrics—Access to Nature, Walkability, and Granularity—helping stakeholders understand how the proposed masterplan will shape Kharkiv's future.
As the first Ukrainian city to begin planning its reconstruction, Kharkiv’s efforts are guided by both local needs and international expertise. The platform provides a visual understanding of how residents will access green spaces, how walkable the city’s neighborhood will be, and how the city’s urban structure can be more permeable and vibrant. These metrics inform critical decisions that will prioritize sustainability, health, and inclusivity as Kharkiv rebuilds itself.
The Kharkiv Masterplan, developed with the Kharkiv City Council, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, and Arup, serves as a pilot for the reconstruction of other Ukrainian cities. This tool will play a crucial role in making evidence-based decisions, ensuring that Kharkiv emerges from this crisis stronger, more resilient, and better connected for its citizens and future generations.
