inStink explores what happens when we can manipulate smell by computer as easily as we currently manipulate sound and video. We have built prototype systems for smell production that use smell as an ambient medium, to communicate presence, activity, and abstract information. We are also examining the use of aromas to aid learning, in conjunction with other media, and as a communication device.
