Folk Computing

Groups

"Folk Computing" supported face-to-face communication and community, modeled on the communicative process of folklore. Although an abundance of research on technologies that support community existed, very little of it focused on co-present communities whose dominant means of interacting is face-to-face. Folk Computing research included earlier work on computationally augmented name tags for conferences, and work on toys that let children create, trade, and track their own digital playthings.
