AI interfaces have evolved, yet they remain largely confined to chat and voice. Gamification offers a new avenue for research and education, making AI more interactive and accessible to a wider audience, outside of the laboratory.
Deviation Game exemplifies this shift, turning AI engagement into a creative challenge, but it is just one part of a broader effort to integrate game mechanics into AI research.
Deviation Game: Outsmarting AI Through Play
A co-op party game for 2-6 players, Deviation Game flips Alan Turing’s Imitation Game. Players draw images that humans recognize but AI struggles with, testing AI perception and dataset biases.
Expanding Research Through Gamification
Beyond Deviation Game, we are exploring how gamification can drive the utilization of AI education, training, and ethics discussions. By embedding AI challenges into playful experiences, we can study AI behavior, biases, and adaptability in ways that traditional research methods cannot. This extends to simulations, experimental learning environments, and interactive platforms that make AI research more immersive and participatory.
