Wearable voice interfaces for human enhancement

Pat Pataranutaporn, Valdemar Munch Danry, and Pattie Maes  |   E14-240

Wearable computing is becoming more integrated into our daily lives. One of the promising opportunities for wearable technology is its potential to augment human intelligence and cognition by providing information in real time. However, to live fulfilling lives, humans do not just seek information, but also motivation and inspiration. Having good mentors and role models is important for personal growth. In this workshop, we will explore the idea of audio-based augmented reality glasses, and how they can offer just-in-time wisdom and advice based on the user's queries and current context.

Designing for disruptive discoveries

Pip Mothersill   |   E15-483

“Creativity is to discover a question that has never been asked.”—Kenya Hara

New ideas often come to us in seemingly serendipitous “Aha!” moments. They’re the unexpected connections we make between previously unrelated concepts that can lead to paradigm shifting innovations. Is it possible to design for these disruptive discoveries? This workshop will talk about the role of serendipity in the creative process and introduce a new “liminal thinking” ideation process and accompanying digital tools that can help us navigate these disruptive discoveries and distill productive insights for our projects.
