Team Space Enabled presents nine papers at the 2024 International Astronautical Congress in Milan, Italy during October 2024

The International Astronautical Congress is the largest, international space conference that features participation from the global space community. This year marks the 75th IAC, hosted in Milan, Italy from October 14 to 18. The conference includes symposia regarding many aspects of the space enterprise, including science, applications, policy, education and societal impacts. Team Space Enabled presents nine papers at the 2024 IAC with findings from projects that apply the EVDT Systems Engineering Framework to progress in Earth Observation and microgravity projects. With EVDT (Environment-Vulnerability-Decision-Technology), Space Enabled designs approaches to increase accessibility and sustainability with space and applications. Speakers include Dr. Scott Dorrington, Dr. Katlyn Turner,  Dr. Sharif Islam, Dr. Ufuoma Ovienmhada, Yiyun Zhang and Frederick Ajisafe. Prof. Danielle Wood serves as Rapporteur for the session B4.1 called the UN/IAF Workshop on Small Satellite Programs at the Service of Developing Countries.

Dr. Sharif Islam is awarded the 2024 Emerging Space Leaders Fellowship which provides funding to participate in the IAC. In addition, Dr. Islam made a presentation at the 2024 UN/IAF Workshop on "Space Technology for Socio-Economic Benefits: Space Sustainability as a Game-Changer for Development." Here are the slides from Dr. Islam's presentation.

Read below for the details of Team Space Enabled IAC presentations. Abstracts for the Team Space Enabled papers from IAC 2024 can be found here.

Session Title: 25th Workshop on Small Satellite Programmes at the Service of Developing Countries

This workshop is organized jointly by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA). It shall review the needs that could be satisfied and results achieved by developing nations through using small satellites. National space plans and examples of application results and benefits shall be included. Small satellite programmes in Africa, Middle-East, and Central Asia would be of particular interest to the session. The workshop shall also review the results of international cooperation, technology transfer, lessons learned and the extent to which these efforts have contributed to the space maturity of developing countries.
