Rosalind Picard, head of the Affective Computing group, and Fernanda Viégas, alum of the Sociable Media group, have been elected to the SIGCHI Academy as part of the 2021 SIGCHI Awards. The SIGCHI Awards, presented in seven categories, identify and honor leaders and shapers of the field of human-computer interaction within SIGCHI. 

The SIGCHI Academy is an honorary group of individuals who have made substantial contributions to the field of human-computer interaction. These are the principal leaders of the field, whose efforts have shaped the disciplines and/or industry, and led the research and/or innovation in human-computer interaction.
