Prof. Sarkar, an inventor and Assistant Professor at the MIT Media Lab, was presented the award by Malabika Sarkar, the former vice-chancellor of Presidency University and Ashoka University. In her acceptance speech, Prof. Sarkar fondly credited her father as a major source of inspiration. "My father once created a washing machine that works without electricity, and his inventive spirit has inspired me deeply," she said. "I spend a lot of time on research, constantly thinking about my next invention."
