Over the past year and a half, Media Lab PhD student Ikra Shuvo has worked with the director of the Multifunctional Metamaterials (META) Lab at MIT, Svetlana Boriskina, and staff members in the MIT Department of Mechanical Engineering (MechE) to develop the "MITx: Innovations in Textiles Engineering" course. This course, of which Ikra serves as an instructor, provides an overview of engineering, manufacturing, and innovation principles used in textile production.
