Ikra Iftekhar Shuvo, a graduate student in the Conformable Decoders group, has received a Harold Horowitz (1951) Student Research Fund award.

Established in 1999 through the generosity of alumnus Harold Horowitz AR ’51, the fund makes awards on an annual basis to one or more students, graduate or undergraduate, enrolled in a degree program in the MIT School of Architecture and Planning. The award recipients are selected based on their academic achievements and dedication to their graduate research works.

Currently exploring flexible electronics for a broad spectrum of applications, including wearables and intelligent electronic textiles, Ikra’s research interest lies in taking an interdisciplinary approach to studying physiological biosignals of the human body. Ikra’s current research work involves microfabricating conformable piezoelectric-based ultrasound (US) devices for in-vivo soft tissue imaging for the early detection of cancerous biomarkers.
