Alvin Harvey, who was a PhD student at MIT AeroAstro and who will be joining the MIT Media Lab as a postdoctoral associate in the Space Enabled group, is the 2024 Priscilla King Gray Public Service Award graduate recipient. Students recognized by this award demonstrate an outstanding personal dedication to social change, long-term and in-depth involvement in public service, and lead initiatives that strengthen our community. Throughout his time at MIT, Harvey has led efforts in establishing opportunities and communities on campus for Indigenous students, faculty, and staff, including co-leading the Indigenous Working Group and serving as co-president of the MIT Native American & Indigenous Association (NAIA)
Honoring Priscilla King Gray’s contributions to public service at MIT, the award recognizes graduate and undergraduate students who are exceptionally dedicated to community engagement and making positive social and environmental changes at MIT and beyond. The award was established by the Undergraduate Association in collaboration with the Priscilla King Gray Public Service Center.
