Embedded Networks

Embedded Networks are digital networks designed to form links among everyday objects. By design, embedded network links are wireless, self organizing, and low power. Control of the network is decentralized. There is no base station or centralized point of command, and distributed, each node shares in the overall maintenance of the network and routing of data packets. The goal of this research is to create networks that are exceptionally easy to set up and maintain. Providing such "instant infrastructure" requires a major rethinking of network architectures. Research in Embedded Networks focuses on novel techniques for control, routing and power management to realize low-cost, packet-switched digital networks.
