Severin is currently a Visiting Student in Prof. Joseph A. Paradiso's Responsive Environments group and is pursuing his Master's Thesis for his degree in Robotics, Systems, and Control at ETH Zurich. He is developing gait-controlled electromagnetic footwear for space applications as a next-generation tethering system for astronauts.

Severin graduated from ETH Zurich in 2021 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During his undergraduate studies, he focused on aerospace systems and competed at the Spaceport America Cup in New Mexico as well as the European Rocketry Challenge in Portugal as part of the Academic Space Initiative Switzerland (ARIS) where he was primarily responsible for hybrid rocket propulsion systems. For his Bachelor's Thesis, he developed transient electronic sensors in cooperation with Imperial College London and the Swiss research lab Empa.

During his graduate studies, Severin led the Strategy and Simulation team at aCentauri Solar Racing and competed in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge 2023 in Australia. He furthermore spent a semester on exchange at the National University of Singapore.

Severin is very passionate about Aerospace, Robotics, and AI and hopes to incorporate new technologies into these fields, such that further advancements can be made.
