Isabella Pu

Graduate Student
  • Personal Robots

Hi, I'm Isabella! I'm a second-year Master's student in the Personal Robots Group.

My research investigates how humans can work collaboratively with robots and AI to develop novel experiences that spark creativity and curiosity. Specifically, I focus on harnessing the joyful power of these technologies to encourage creative learning, empower the next generation with technological skills, and explore human-technology artistic co-creation. After all, as new technologies develop, so too do new artistic landscapes and experiences that humans cannot generate alone. I also have a special interest in ensuring these technologies are accessible and understandable to all, especially students of historically excluded communities.

Previously, I have worked on animations to teach non-expert audiences about generative AI, programmed a team of robots to form a generative percussion quartet, developed programmatic art that shapeshifts depending on musical changes, and worked on games to teach about sustainability.

Before studying at the Media Lab, I received my B.S.E. in Computer Science from Princeton University in 2023 along with a certificate in Robotics and Intelligent Systems. I have also spent three summers interning with the Player Interactions & Trust team at Blizzard Entertainment, working on making games like Overwatch and World of Warcraft friendlier and more accessible. Outside of research, I enjoy video game achievement hunting, fashion, slam poetry, and writing music.
