Overview

The Media Lab is famous for inventing the future, which makes it the perfect sandbox for this work. By augmenting the Lab’s multidisciplinary education and research training with human skills and leadership development, OLP will equip emerging technical change-makers with human-centric mindsets. These innovators, namely students, will gain the skill sets and character to inspire and activate them to reimagine, reinvent, and deliver a more humane and just future -- by, with, & for all. 

Technology is a lever we invent to move the world… but in which direction? Our goal is to develop and engage young innovators in transformative learning experiences that challenge their perspectives, deepen their awareness of self and others, and develop their ability to manage complex problems that cut across multiple domains with empathy, humility, humanity, and ethical judgment. We embrace MIT’s open tradition of generating, sharing, and scaling new innovations and experiential learning practices -- starting at MIT and ultimately growing far beyond --  by collaborating with leading experts across disciplines to:

• Conceptualize modularized, experiential, authentic learning experiences that can be adapted to different learning contexts and shared with the broader educational community
• Integrate multidisciplinary perspectives, inclusive of humanities and the arts, with innovative tools, to create leadership and human-skills training, designed to inspire and shape young technical innovators.
• Co-create and share educational content, tools, conceptual frameworks, impact metrics, and insights that advance the current state of leadership  
• Experience and iterate our educational innovations, materials, and tools in the context of innovative formal course offerings and immersive learning experiences (e.g., workshops, events, etc.)
• Cultivate and convene a multi-disciplinary community of collaborators and experts to mobilize emerging technical talent around the OLP’s espoused vision, mission, and impact objectives.
• Commit to equity of open access and opportunity for aspiring technical talent, globally
