M. Regina Apodaca M. will be speaking as part of an event called "Women in Engineering 2020," hosted by the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, along with women engineers from MIT and with the support of the United States Embassy in Guatemala.
M. Regina Apodaca M.'s talk, entitled “How to fly in Mars and in Space," will discuss her journey towards science and engineering as a Latina. Specifically, it will address how her passion for traveling brought her to participate in projects at various research institutions that are trying to address the questions of how to move around outside of this planet. Her talk will also mention how, while working on these projects brought her joy, a part of her still wanted to make sure she was also fighting for social justice. This led her to work with Space Enabled, a group that works towards advancing justice in Earth’s complex systems using designs enabled by space.
The event will be held in Spanish.
