日本電気株式会社とMITメディアラボは、2016年4月より、ウェアラブルデバイスを用いた未来の感情状態の予測に関する共同研究を行っています。2017年10月からは、NECが社員をメディアラボに派遣し、学生だけでなく労働者にも手法を適用・発展させるべく、共同研究を加速させました。彼らが主に取り組んだのは、1) 機械学習を用いて過去の情報をモデル化することでストレス予測の精度を高めること、2）ウェアラブルデバイスを介してその日に取得したデータから翌日のストレス度を予測するモデルを開発すること。彼らの研究論文は、主要な国際会議の論文として4回選ばれ、そのうち1回はBest Paper Awardに選ばれました。NECとアフェクティブ・コンピューティングは、人々がより充実した生活を送るための技術の実現を目指し続けています。
また、MIT Media Labでの客員研究員としての共同研究を通して学んだもの、アメリカと日本での研究スタイルの違い等、様々な経験談を共有いたします。

Title: Improving Well-Being - Predicting Tomorrow's Stress, Health, and Happiness

NEC Corporation and the MIT Media Lab have been conducting a collaboration research on the prediction of future emotional status using wearable devices since April 2016. From October 2017, NEC dispatched an employee to the Media Lab to accelerate its collaboration research to apply and develop the methods on workers in addition to students. They worked primarily on, 1) Using machine learning to increase the accuracy of stress prediction by making models past information, 2) developing a model to predict the stress levels of the following day from the data acquired that day through the wearable device. Their research papers were chosen four times as articles for flagship international conferences, and one of them was selected for the Best Paper Award. NEC and Affective Computing continue to aim to realize technology that will help people live more fulfilling lives.
Additionally, the presenter will also share her experiences as a visiting researcher at MIT Media Lab, including what she learned through collaborative research and the differences in research styles between the US and Japan.
