FYRE : Fueling Young Revolutionary Engineers

In collaboration with the Program in Media Arts and Sciences (MAS) at the MIT Media Lab, FYRE  (Fueling Young Revolutionary Engineers) is a one-day workshop designed to inspire 12-15 year-old students in the Greater Boston area to use computer science as a tool for social and political change within their community. The event will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at MIT Media Lab (Building E14).

Aligning with the Media Lab's mission to channel technology for social impact, FYRE encourages students to demonstrate passion for their communities through creative coding projects on Scratch, a block-based programming language and online community. The goal of FYRE is to ignite the “fire” of innovative love in young students and encourage them to pursue these tools in the future.

Participants will work in teams of up to three to develop projects addressing issues affecting local communities, helping develop skills in collaboration and brainstorming.

Register by Friday, April 25, 2025.
