KnitX, a project series developed by Irmandy Wicaksono in the Responsive Environments group at the MIT Media Lab, will be displayed in Tokyo as part of the Lexus Design Award 2020/2021 Finalists Exhibition, which showcases the finalists from the past two years. The Lexus Design Award is an international competition that supports up-and-coming creators and brings together notable examples of “Design for a Better Tomorrow.”
As seen in Irmandy’s projects KnittedKeyboard and KnittedKeyboard II, KnitX is a method of developing intelligent and interactive textiles, starting from electronics at the fiber level and moving towards their integration into fabrics with digital machine knitting.
