Impress Communications to Distribute Images to Pocket PCs
Pocket PC is a Windows CE 3.0-based personal digital assistant platform.
Information technology and entertainment programs selected from impress TV will be distributed to Pocket PC users.
Using a Pocket PC to access URLs designed for Pocket PCs, users can watch streaming image contents.
The mobile communication market in Japan, including PDAs, is expected to have 84.6 million subscribers, or a 66.8 percent penetration rate, in fiscal 2004, according to the Mobile Computing Promotion Consortium.
In anticipation of an expanding market, Impress Communications has already begun distributing TV programs to Sharp Corp.'s Zaurus PDAs and NTT DoCoMo Inc.'s eggy (M-stage visual). Pocket PC is the third mobile information device the company is delivering image contents to after the Zaurus and eggy terminals.
