Eman Jaradat

Former Director's Fellow

Through her work with Community Media Solutions, media activist Eman Jaradat is currently supporting the Aswatona Network, a group of organizations working on community media, especially community radios, in the Arab world. Jaradat advocates for the rights of freedom of expression and broadcast. She has worked intensively with community media activists from Tunisia to Yemen and from Palestine to Algeria to build capacities and advocacy, creating a freer and more open Arab world. 

Jaradat has a BSc in computer science from the University of Jordan, and a postgraduate diploma in social innovation in a digital context from Lund University in Sweden. Jaradat joined the first community radio in the Arab World, AmmanNet, as new media specialist; with AmmanNet she introduced new media to the traditional radio environment, and was involved in several projects on civic participation and citizen journalism. She co-founded the Jordan Open Source Association, which promotes open source, Creative Commons, digital freedoms, and rights for the Jordanian community.
